On Saturday 21 June 2014, team All Fuels joined team Daymed Private Hospital in sharing some winter warmers with the children of Ekujabuleni Child and Youth Care (CYC) Centre.
The centre is located in Plessislaer, on the outskirts of Pietermaritzburg, Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa, and is an incredibly well-run establishment. It is neat and tidy, the children very well behaved, and even boasts a vegetable garden. The menu is well balanced, as is the children’s routine, with television limited to 2 hours per day.
We at All Fuels – Caltex KZN South Branded Marketer, put together a hamper for each child; the gift bags contained a few vital winter items, including a blanket, a few toys and sweets, and a Caltex Delo Lubricant money box.
Our party of 5 vehicles, including 3 Daymed Ambulance, descended on Ekujabuleni like the proverbial Santa Clause, showering the special occupants with gifts to keep them warm this winter.
The children sang welcoming songs for us, guests and residents alike dancing in glee.
Gift bags for boys and gifts bags for girls were distributed to the ecstatic young ones, revelry clearly exhibited on each and every face. Yet, even with such excitement, the order was maintained, and noise level a minimum.
The merriment of the children was tangible as they tentatively waited their turn to receive their packages.
When it was time to say good bye, all little voices were lifted countless times in unison, their chorus being heard for miles around. It was such sweet sorrow as we departed, the melody of gratefulness following our procession out, the special little ones waving and cheering their goodbyes.
Team All Fuels thanks all who were part of making this happen, your contribution will be remembered forever by the children of Ekujabuleni Child and Youth Centre.
